São Paulo School of Advanced Science in Systems Change and Sustainability

Sustainability, understood as the ability to meet present needs without compromising the future, is a multidimensional concept encompassing economic, social, and environmental spheres. Addressing complex contemporary challenges requires systemic changes, where researchers, policymakers, and economic actors work collaboratively to build more equitable and resilient societies. This context makes it essential to create spaces for in-depth and interdisciplinary discussions that advance scientific understanding and propose applicable solutions.

The São Paulo School of Advanced Science in Systems Change and Sustainability (SPSAS), to be held at Insper, in Brazil, seeks to explore, at an advanced level, central subareas for sustainable transformation. With topics such as change theory, regenerative organization, cross-sector collaboration, transformative services in marketing, mainstreaming and intersectionality, transformative operations and supply chains, venture capital, technology and sustainability, and adaptive leadership for sustainable change, the school brings together leading academics to discuss cutting-edge knowledge in each topic. The proposal is to integrate multiple forms of knowledge and agents of transformation, promoting critical reflections and contributing to the advancement of global and local sustainability agendas.

The schedule for the ten-day event combines theoretical and practical activities, including keynote lectures, advanced workshops, discussion panels, and case analysis, focusing on government and market perspectives on sustainability. The program includes technical visits to companies, government entities, and communities that develop sustainable actions, along with interactive sessions where participants will present their research.

Applicants must be currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate programs in Brazil or abroad. Applicants who have recently (within the last 12 months) completed a PhD may also be accepted. Required documentation for registrations include a motivation letter, a summary of the proposal to be presented and discussed at the school, a letter of recommendation, updated academic transcripts and a résumé.
