São Paulo School of Advanced Science Bicentennial of Independence |
Reopened to the public in September 2022, the Ipiranga Museum plays a central role in the celebrations of the Bicentennial of Independence, especially through the exhibition “Memórias da Independência”, which brings different readings and regional narratives about the same phenomenon. It is in this context that the School emerges as an opportunity to discuss in depth the process of Brazil's Independence in different perspectives.
In a first track, the process will be discussed from the perspective of international relations, with special attention to the process of recognition of independence abroad. The second track, dedicated to domestic issues, will bring the political perspectives of independence within the different regions of Brazil. In this case, instead of addressing independence from the point of view of historiographical and political interpretations, the temporal evolution of regional commemorations on independence will be taken as the center of the analysis.
The São Paulo School of Advanced Science Bicentennial of the Brazilian Independence will select up to 100 researchers (50 for Brazilians and 50 for foreigners).
The School will fully fund the flights and accommodation for all participants (this does not, however, apply to those who live in the São Paulo Metropolitan Area). Other expenses (costs of processing visas, eventual vaccination procedures for traveling to Brazil or transportation costs within the city of São Paulo) will not be covered by the School. The selection of the students will take into consideration the motivations and the adherence to the proposed theme expressed in the documents attached in the form available at the event's website.
