São Paulo School of Advanced Science on Electrochemistry: from sensing to energy conversion and storage (SPASECS)

The Paulo Teng An Sumodjo School of Electrochemistry (PTASE), hosted annually at IQUSP, is pleased to announce its upcoming 20th Anniversary celebration and its new status as a FAPESP São Paulo School of Advanced Science (SPSAS), to be held 2nd to 11th December 2026. In alignment with the FAPESP Advanced School framework, the 2026 edition will welcome not only Brazilian students and professors but also international participants, creating a vibrant environment for global scientific interaction.

Also, as part of this upgraded format, the school will extend its activities to 10 full days, featuring an intensive program of high-level lectures, laboratory sessions, round-table discussions, and networking opportunities.

Designed for graduate students and young PhDs, the event provides a unique platform for advanced knowledge exchange, scientific discussion, and professional development in electrochemistry. The central goal of this Advanced School is to provide a solid theoretical and experimental foundation that enhances participants’ understanding of charge-transfer phenomena and electrode processes relevant to next-generation batteries, catalytic interfaces, and electrochemical sensors. The school aims to strengthen proficiency in advanced electrochemical techniques and improve the effective use of modern computational tools that accompany current instrumentation.

To ensure optimal access to specialized equipment and promote hands-on learning in small groups, participation will remain limited to a maximum of 80 attendees (40 Brazilian and 40 from abroad) Registrations are open until June 15th at the school's website; all selected candidates will be notified by email by June 19th, 2026.

Selected candidates from outside São Paulo City and from academic institutions across Brazil and abroad will receive financial assistance, including accommodation, meals during the event, and transportation to São Paulo.
