São Paulo School of Advanced Science on First Light: Stars, galaxies and black holes in the epoch of re-ionization

The Institute for Astronomy, Geophysics and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of São Paulo in São Paulo, Brazil, will organize an intensive school to introduce the future generation of young astronomers (advanced undergraduate and graduate students) to the forefront of the theoretical and observational developments of the astrophysics of the epoch of re-ionisation (EoR).

The school is centered around 8 main lecture courses delivered by top international experts that will cover topics including the cosmic dark ages, the formation of the first stars, galaxies and black holes, and their present-day descendants such as the Milky Way and other galaxies. Focus lectures will highlight new instrumentation, surveys and modeling techniques relevant to epoch of reionisation research. Student participation will furthermore be encouraged through practical sessions such as tutorials and exercises and student talks and poster presentations.
