Nanotechnology, agriculture and the environment are themes of the new São Paulo School of Advanced Science

Agência FAPESP – The National Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM) invites undergraduates and graduate students from Brazil and abroad to participate in the São Paulo School of Advanced Science in Nanotechnology, Agriculture and Environment (SPSAS-NanoA&E), which will be held between 3 and 15 July in the city of Campinas.

Supported by FAPESP through the São Paulo School of Advanced Science (ESPCA) program, the event aims to attract young talents committed to academic excellence. During the course will be presented the ecosystem of research and innovation of FAPESP and the opportunities for conducting doctoral and postdoctoral studies in the State of São Paulo.

The program will have didactic activities scheduled between theoretical and practical classes, presentation and discussion of research results and technical visits to open facilities and specialized laboratories of various institutions, such as CNPEM, Paulista State University (Unesp) and University of São Paulo (USP), among others.

The classes will be taught by national and foreign teachers and researchers with solid experience in higher education, scientific leadership and excellence in research in nanotechnology, agriculture and the environment.

SPSAS-NanoA&E's activities will address the following topics: nanotechnology, innovation and sustainability; synthesis, functionalization and characterization of nanomaterials; advanced characterization of nanoparticles in complex environmental matrices; synchrotron light in nanoagroambiental; agro-environmental applications of nanoparticles; geochemistry, ecotoxicology and nanobiointerfaces; nanosecurity and nanoinformatics; international harmonization and regulatory issues; and environmental implications of nanotechnology.

Those interested in participating must register by February 5, through the event website. Foreign or Brazilian students who do not reside in Campinas may have their travel costs covered.

The event will be held at CNPEM, Rua Giuseppe Máximo Scolfaro, 10,000, Bosque das Palmeiras, Campinas, São Paulo state.
