New São Paulo Schools of Advanced Science will be selected
FAPESP announces a new call for proposals within the São Paulo School of Advanced Science (SPSAS) line of support for the organization of short courses on frontier science and technology topics in any field.
This is the fifteenth call under SPSAS line of support – in this scheme, call for proposals are issued once a year. In addition to furthering the advancement of knowledge, the funded events are expected to increase the visibility of research, doctoral programs, and postdoctoral opportunities in the State of São Paulo, especially among candidates in other Brazilian states and abroad.
During SPSAS courses, scientists with common professional interests will come together, for a period of 10 to 14 days, engaging in intense discussion and analysis of the most advanced aspects of their fields of research.
These conferences allow information and ideas to be disseminated in ways not possible using the usual channels of communication, such as scientific publications and presentations at scientific meetings.
Each course must feature a program of seminars or mini-courses taught by scientists from Brazil or abroad. Invited speakers of the SPSAS courses, including foreign scientists, must be highly qualified researchers and internationally outstanding in their fields.
Participating students must be enrolled in undergraduate or postgraduate programs – in Brazil or abroad – and be candidates for masters programs, doctoral programs, or postdoctoral positions at higher education and research institutions in the State of São Paulo. Some recently graduated PhDs will also be accepted.
It is expected that proposals do include world-renowned scientists among the researchers invited to present mini-courses or lectures. Their credentials must be confirmed through high-level scientific awards, publications in journals cherished by the scientific community of his/her field, as well as leadership in internationally prestigious organizations, so that FAPESP can assure participating students the opportunity of meeting high-class scientists.
The students will have the opportunity to present their research findings during poster sessions.
Priority will be given to proposals within themes not covered in schools recently selected by the SPSAS line of support.
Applications for the 15th SPSAS call will be accepted until August 9th, 2018.
